About

Nicole B. Schmidt

Artist. Educator. Creative Facilitator.

I was born and raised in the wild beauty of Alaska—a place that taught me resilience, reverence for nature, and the freedom found in isolation. I didn’t grow up visiting big art museums or galleries. Instead, I had a creative mother who nurtured my imagination, a small community that celebrated the arts, and my first job at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. That early exposure lit a spark that’s been burning ever since.

Like many artists, I was encouraged to find a “real job,” so I chose a path that felt close—graphic design. It became a new medium, one that taught me to listen, communicate, and connect visually. Over two decades, I’ve helped public projects and small businesses express their values and share their stories through purposeful design.

But I always felt a deeper calling.

Through my own journey—art retreats, expressive arts classes, and years of personal exploration—I’ve experienced firsthand how creativity can heal. When we create without pressure or perfection, we access something ancient and wise within ourselves. The research backs this up: engaging with the arts reduces stress, rewires the brain for problem-solving, and supports holistic well-being.

Now, I’m devoted to making the creative expression experience accessible to others.

Nicole B Creative was founded to facilitate spaces where creativity becomes a tool for self-care, reflection, and community. You don’t need to be an artist. You just need a willingness to show up, explore, and let your hands and heart lead the way.

Because being creative isn’t a luxury—it’s essential to being well.
